Massively Subsidised Colonoscopy Polypectomy Training Opportunity

£30 for first 200 participants as significantly sponsored by Olympus (available at £150 for participants over 200 / those who do not want to be supported). Access to GIEQ website for 1 year and 3 online polypectomy courses for ACPGBI.

Course 1
25 July 2022 7-9pm online
Polyps

Objectives

  1. To describe the optimal approach to detecting lesions in the colon
  2. To characterise lesions of the colon according to the demarcation zone, Paris+3 classification
  3. To use the above classifications to quantitatively risk-assess lesions of the colon for risk of submucosally invasive cancer
  4. To describe the SMSA and SMSA+ system of determining the difficulty of polypectomy and describe how they are used

Format

  • Two hours on-line
  • Remote delegate involvement (unlimited numbers) via chat function (monitored throughout)
  • Core topics with supplementary materials (slides, still images, video, whiteboard and discussion)

Course 2:

1 September 2022 6-8pm (online)
​​​​Polyp Management 

Objectives

  • To optimise decision-making to ensure maximal effectiveness and safety of polypectomy by:
  1. Providing a framework to judge whether and when a lesion should be resected endoscopically, and by whom [and therefore define when surgery is the preferred approach to polypectomy]
  2. If a decision is made for endoscopic polypectomy to define when an en-bloc resection should be prioritized over a piecemeal resection
  • To describe optimal pathways for endoscopic polypectomy and surgery for colorectal polyps

Course 3

21 November 2022 6-8pm online
Deconstruct polypectomy (online) 

Objectives

  1. Virtual/live application of the above gained knowledge to hands on polypectomy skills training
  2. Demonstrate an ability to describe optimal, evidence-based resection techniques for the colonic polyps encountered
  3. Demonstrate an ability to discuss the relative merits of different approaches to polypectomy when there is not an evidence base for a preferred technique
  4. Deconstruct the approach to en-bloc and piecemeal cold and hot snare polypectomy of flat polyps and hot snare polypectomy of pedunculated polyps
  5. Demonstrate strategies for the prevention and management of complications of polypectomy

  2. Check ability to describe optimal, evidence-based resection techniques for colonic polyps
  3. Check ability to discuss the relative merits of different approaches to polypectomy when there is not an evidence base for a preferred technique
  4. Deconstruct the approach to en-bloc and piecemeal cold and hot snare polypectomy of flat polyps and hot snare polypectomy of pedunculated polyps (Range of polyps SMSA 2- SMSA 4)
  5. Demonstrate strategies for the prevention and management of complications of polypectomy

Format

  • Live hands-on course 12 UK delegates in Ghent or Glasgow (6 per day @£1000 plus all expenses)
  • Option to have up to 10 paying observers live on site with Faculty led seminar room teaching for observers (£100 plus all expenses)

Structure

  • 2-hour evening classroom-based session on the first evening
  • Two successive days in the endoscopy suite

Notes:

  1. The 2-hour evening class is on the evening before the first live day of cases
  2. This evening session in not repeated after the first day of live cases
  3. After the first day of live cases, there will be a course dinner
  4. Delegates do not have to stay for 2 days if they are under time pressure
  5. Ghent is a lovely place to visit if you have time.
  6. Travel arrangements and accommodation are not covered in the registration fees for live case delegates or observers)
