Dear Colleagues,

We are delighted to be bringing the first meeting of the Irish Association of Coloproctology (in conjunction with the Republic of Ireland Chapter of ACPGBI) in 3 years on Friday and Saturday the 20th and 21st May.

We are all keen to meet again in-person after a difficult few years, and we have what will hopefully be an engaging program. We are taking the meeting to the K Club in County Kildare, and we would encourage you to book in, stay and partake in the social activities as well.

The meeting theme is advanced CRC, and we have a few multidisciplinary symposia featuring Irish experts as well as some from abroad. Ms Danielle Collins will come from Edinburgh to tell us about pelvic exenteration. Dr. Alison Corr - a radiologist at St Marks Hospital, London but recently lured to Dublin by St James’ Hospital - will be speaking on what radiology can offer surgeons taking on difficult and advanced cases. We will also be hearing the highs and lows of tricky cases in Consultant’s Corner, and will see some tips and tricks in a Video session.

For our trainees we are holding an FRCS “Hot seat” Viva workshop with mock viva exams & we hope trainees will join and partake. Professor Paris Tekkis of the Royal Marsden Hospital London will deliver a keynote lecture, as will the current ACPGBI president, Professor Peter Sagar to round off the program.

Social events will include a round of golf on the morning of Friday 20th, with a dinner in the K Club on the Friday night - partners and in particular trainees are of course welcome to this. We are hoping for 7 CPD credits from RCSI, to be confirmed with circulation of the final programme.

We look forward to welcoming you to this meeting and really want as many of you as possible to attend what hopefully will be a stimulating & enjoyable event. In any case it will be good to see each other in person once again, so we urge you to take this opportunity and use your CME funding to assist travel and accommodation costs, and to partake in the social activities.

Please remember to RSVP to iacoloproctology@gmail.com so we have an idea of numbers.
