Webinar I
The emergency surgical burden is growing and it essential that all UK Consultant Colorectal Surgeons are able to manage a wide range of acute presentations. Laparotomies for lower gastrointestinal pathology make up the majority of the 30,000 laparotomies carried out in the UK each year, and as the complexity of cases increases as we deal with an ageing and increasingly frail population, decision-making can be hugely challenging, but often very rewarding.
A series of webinars with an interactive panel of UK experts is planned to discuss typical acute Colorectal presentations covering assessment, diagnostics, management options and outcomes, at the same time drawing on evidence from the recently published ACPGBI Emergency Colorectal Surgery Guidelines.
Will include cases of small bowel obstruction, large bowel obstruction, colonic infarction, diverticular perforation and lower GI bleeding.
