Are you thinking of going to Tripartite 2022? Would you like to arrive without jet-lag? Then come to the RSM Section of Coloproctology Overseas Meeting in Fremantle, Western Australia on the way!

There should  lots of flight options and bargains available (see skyscanner, kayak, Trailfinders etc). We will gather for an informal evening reception and buffet supper at a rooftop bar in Fremantle on Friday 18 February 2022.

On Saturday 19 February 2022 there will be a one day meeting colorectal surgeons at Fiona Stanley Hospital, which will bring together colorectal surgeons from the UK and Western Australia, providing an opportunity to interact and compare practices and outcomes between the two countries.

This will be a content-packed day, starting with a focus on colorectal cancer, and shifting to exploring advances in robotic technology, genomics and inflammatory bowel disease management that will have an impact on coloproctology in the immediate future. Speakers will also will cover issues surrounding the use of mesh, and the environmental impact of modern surgery. There will also be a session devoted to trainee research presentations and discussion of the work presented, and the day will end with an interactive panel discussion of difficult cases.

The meeting will be followed by dinner at the Maritime Museum in Fremantle. There will be an excursion for accompanying guests on the day of the meeting, and another the following day for those with later flights to Aukland.

Join internationally recognised experts to discuss issues around introduction of innovative techniques that have resulted in problems surrounding the use of mesh, along with the environmental impact of modern surgery. By attending, you will:

  • Know how colorectal cancer screening programmes, diagnostic referral pathways, investigation and treatment strategies differ between Australia and the UK.
  • Understand how prehabilitation and enhanced recovery are being introduced into practice in Western Australia.
  • Take part in critical appraisal of new research findings presented by trainees.
  • Gain awareness of upcoming advances in robotic surgery and treatment of inflammatory bowel disease and how genomic with impact on colorectal practice.
  • Understand some of the practical problems associated with introducing innovation in surgery.
