Anal cancer is an increasing problem, especially among people with HIV. Given the similarities with cervical cancer, screening for anal cancer precursors (AIN) might prevent anal cancer.
The gold standard for AIN detection is high-resolution anoscopy (HRA) with pathophysiological examination of targeted biopsies. Standard treatment is HRA-guided cautery.
Unfortunately, experience with HRA is scarce and therefore courses and trainings are needed. Following the courses in the US, the European HRA course was initiated 2 years ago by Dr Mayura Nathan, at Homerton University Hosiptal in London.
The current edition of the course is organized by the British Association for Sexual Health and HIV and the International Anal Neoplasia Society and will be held in London.
