The theme of the Congress will be “
Coping with Complications”, recognising that Complications place a huge burden on the patient but also on the surgeon and on healthcare resources.
The Congress programme includes high quality plenary sessions and symposia of relevance to established consultants and trainees with a major focus on elective and emergency general surgical care. There will be eponymous lectures from the four Royal Colleges and input from many of ASGBI's sister Specialty Associations. Following very positive feedback on recent new initiatives, ASGBI will continue to incorporate educational updates and videos within short paper sessions.
Abstracts will be considered for oral, video, oral poster and e-poster presentation and ensure the very best abstracts are presented in plenary sessions. Dedicated interactive lunchtime e-poster sessions continue as will the ever-popular Meet the Expert small-group sessions and the Bad Day on Call.
In addition to a great educational and social experience, the aim is to have something for everyone, fulfilling the Association’s founding objectives – “the advancement of the science and art of surgery, and the promotion of friendship amongst surgeons”.
