Course Overview
This one-day intensive course provides participants with essential knowledge and hands-on skills to perform basic colonoscopy procedures safely and effectively. The course emphasizes understanding the role of colonoscopy in diagnosis and treatment, developing core technical skills for insertion and withdrawal, and recognizing key anatomical landmarks and common pathologies. Patient safety, comfort, and procedural risk management are also integral components. Participants will have the opportunity to practice core techniques on simulation models.
By the end of the course, delegates will gain confidence in their foundational colonoscopy skills, supporting their progression toward independent practice and further endoscopic training.

Delegates attending this training course can expect to achieve the following learning objectives:
- Understand the basic principles of colonoscopy and its diagnostic and therapeutic roles
- Demonstrate safe and effective techniques for endoscope insertion, manipulation, and withdrawal
- Identify key anatomical landmarks and common pathologies encountered during colonoscopy

Target Audience & Prerequisites
Gastroenterology & Surgical trainee and Clinical Endoscopists. To allow for consolidation of experience following the course, delegates should have access to appropriate training lists, as evidenced by their Endoscopy Lead, Training Programme Director, or Assigned Educational Supervisor. This access can be current, confirmed, or promised by the relevant authority.
Desirable Criteria
Delegates registering to attend this course ideally should have attended and had some hands-on experience on a minimum of 15 Colonoscopy withdrawal procedures.
