Dr. Thalia Petropoulou, MD, PhD, FRCS, FACS, EARCS
Consultant Colorectal & Robotic Surgeon | Academic Fellow, University of Athens
Dr. Thalia Petropoulou is a consultant colorectal surgeon with over a decade of experience in advanced minimally invasive and robotic surgery. She is the Head of Robotic and Minimally Invasive Colorectal Surgery at Euroclinic Athens and an Academic Fellow at the University of Athens.
After completing three Post-CCT Fellowships in the UK (Sheffield Teaching Hospitals, Freeman Hospital, Yeovil District Hospital) and serving as a Locum Consultant at Brighton & Sussex University Hospitals, she has performed more than 200 complex robotic colorectal procedures, including pioneering Natural Orifice (NOTES) and No-Incision Colectomy (NIC) techniques in Europe.
Her academic profile includes >35 PubMed-indexed publications, participation in 30+ international multicentre studies (RESET, EAGLE, TENTACLE, COLOSSEUM), and invited faculty roles at global congresses. She is a certified Master Surgeon in Robotic Surgery (SRC) and faculty/proctor at ORSI Academy in Belgium, contributing to international training programs and AI-integrated surgical education.
Dr. Petropoulou is an active member of leading surgical societies, including ESCP, EAES, ALSGBI, and the American College of Surgeons, with a strong interest in innovation, patient-centered care, and advancing robotic colorectal surgery worldwide.
