Specialised in the treatment of diseases related to colon and rectal surgery, with the highest success rate in complex and recurrent anal fistulas, colon and rectal cancer, constipation, haemorrhoids, anal fissures, and faecal incontinence. The highest number of successful Laparoscopic Ventral Mesh Rectopexy operations for pelvic floor disorders in Pakistan.
In 1975, I was born in District Bagh, Azad Jammu & Kashmir (AJK), Pakistan. I completed my secondary education in Muzaffarabad (AJK). In 1998, I concluded my undergraduate medical education (MBBS) at Punjab Medical College in Faisalabad, Pakistan. I subsequently completed my general surgical training in 2004 and qualified the Fellowship examination in general surgery from the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Pakistan (FCPS).
I have worked as a general surgeon in Azad Kashmir, Sheikh Zayed Hospital, Lahore and finally joined Shifa International Hospital, Islamabad, Pakistan, in November 2005.
I worked as a Consultant General Surgeon in Shifa International Hospital until February 2012, after which I completed my Fellowship Training in Colon and Rectal Surgery from Guy’s and St. Thomas’ NHS Hospitals, London, United Kingdom, in 2012-2013.
After returning from the UK, I began my work as a Consultant Colorectal Surgeon at Shifa International Hospital in Islamabad, and have been here since.
I am one of the pioneers in Pakistan who established a specialised practice in colon and rectal surgery.
I qualified for the Postgraduate degree, Master of Surgery in Coloproctology from the University of East Anglia, United Kingdom. I also qualified for the Fellowship of the European Board of Colo-Rectal Surgery.
I am the first person from Pakistan who has been awarded fellowships from the European Society of Coloproctology (ESCP) for training at Geneva University Hospital, Switzerland, in 2018, and an International Scholarship by the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons (ASCRS) for training at Mayo Clinic Hospital, USA, in 2019.
I am a Fellow of the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons (ASCRS), a Fellow of the European Society of Coloproctology (ESCP), a Member of the Association of Coloproctologists of Great Britain and Ireland, a Member of The Pelvic Floor Society of the United Kingdom (TPFS) and a Member of the International Continence Society (ICS).
I have the highest success rate in the treatment of complex anal fistula, colon and rectal cancer, and Pelvic Floor Disorders (Constipation and Incontinence). I use both Open and Minimal Invasive [Laparoscopic] Techniques.
In addition, I also regularly deal with patients of Haemorrhoids, Anal Fissure, Pilonidal Sinus, Inflammatory Bowel Disease, Faecal Incontinence after Child Birth Injuries, Constipation and other proctological diseases. I use all Surgical Methods wherever appropriate, including both open-cut techniques and minimally invasive [Camera/Endoscopic] methods.
