Biography
I graduated from the university of Punjab in 1995. I completed my basic surgical training in the south west and acquired MRCS in April 2004. I subsequently worked for 18 months in the Royal London Hospital with the Trauma Vascular and critical care surgery team for a period of research.
I trained extensively in general surgical specialties and most of my training was undertaken in the east of England.
I acquired my intercollegiate FRCS in April 2014 and have worked as a NHS consultant since 2015 before starting a substantive Colorectal & General Consultant Surgeon post in April 2020 in Sherwood Forrest Hospitals NHS foundation Trust..
I carry out emergency and elective colorectal cancer, diverticular disease and inflammatory bowel disease surgery-mostly laparoscopically. I mange most ano-rectal conditions as mentioned in specialisms including rectal prolapse surgery. I also manage FAP and lynch syndrome patients and part of the lynch team in my trust.
In addition I regularly carry out laparoscopic hernia repair and biliary surgery.
I have published meta analysis, review articles, case reports mainly in colorectal specialty. I have also participated in collaborative studies and one Cochran review.
I have been a reviewer for IJS and ALSGBI
My leadership roles include lead for audit, co-lead for final year medical students in my previous consultant posts.
Currently I am a primary investigator for FIT for Surveillance Study (FITSS) for my trust.
