Biography
Prof. Dean Harris is a Consultant General and Colorectal Surgeon at Singleton Hospital in Swansea and an honorary clinical professor at Swansea University.
Having qualified from University of Wales College of Medicine (Cardiff) in 1997 he was appointed as a consultant in 2010.
He has obtained advanced colorectal training as a colorectal fellow at St Mark’s Hospital in London and at Mount Sinai Hospital in Toronto, Canada. He was the Ethicon Endosurgery Laparoscopic Colorectal Fellow in Swansea in 2010. He was the ACPGBI/ASCRS/RSM Travelling Fellow in 2013, visiting the Mayo Clinic and Washington DC and currently holds an academic NISCHR AHSC Clinical Research Fellowship.
He has special interests in pelvic exenteration for advanced pelvic malignancy, ileoanal pouch surgery and laparoscopic colorectal surgery.
He has a broad research portfolio at Swansea University which includes investigating the biology of locally advanced rectal cancer.
