Biography
Michael trained in Southampton as a Medical Student and Junior Doctor before rotating through posts in Bournemouth, Portsmouth, Cambridge, Bedford and St George's London. His registrar jobs on the South Thames rotation included learning laparoscopic skills in Guildford, Ashford/ St Peter's and Chichester. He spent 6 months as a clinical assistant at St Mark's Hospital before his consultant appointment in 2002.
He has been the leader of a team of five consultant colorectal consultants in Dorchester. He has been an elected member of the Education and Training committee and ACPGBI council.
He has been prominent in teaching within the National Pelvic Floor Society and is a founder member of this section.
In March 2020 he relocated to Rockhampton in Central Queensland to establish a specialist colorectal service for the region. In 2021 he was accepted as a provisional member of the CSSANZ
