Biography
Austin Acheson has been a Consultant Colorectal Surgeon in Nottingham since 2005. He trained in Belfast, Oxford and St Mark's London. He has a specialised interest in complex laparoscopic colorectal surgery, proctology and intestinal failure. He is a national trainer of Laparoscopic colorectal surgery and chapter lead/member of council of the Association of Coloproctology GB and I.
Austin Acheson is an Associate Professor of Surgery at Nottingham University. His main research interests are perioperative anaemia treatment, Clinical trials and Laparoscopic surgery. He is currently Chief Investigator of 2 large randomised controlled trials - IVICA and IRON. He has published over 50 papers in peer reviewed journals and has been successful in securing approx £500,000 research funding in the past 5 years.
