Biography
Michael Machesney studied medicine at UCL Medical School. His post graduate basic surgical training training was on rotation from St Mary's, Paddington. He was a HEMS registrar and research registrar at The Royal London and Mount Vernon Hospitals before completing his higher surgical training in North East Thames with interests in Colorectal and Laparoscopic Surgery.
Michael Machesney has been a Consultant Surgeon at Whipps Cross Hospital since 2003. He was the Lead Clinician for colorectal cancer from 2003-12, and Clinical Director for Surgery Critical Care and Anaesthesia 2011-12.
He is currently the Pathway Director for Colorectal Cancer at London Cancer, the Integrated Cancer System based at UCLP resulting from the merger of the North East London and North Central London Cancer Networks (he was formerly the Chair of the NELCN Colorectal Board).
