Biography
I am an NHS Colorectal Surgeon and an Honorary Senior Lecturer.
As a colorectal surgeon I have specialist interests in Colonic and Rectal Cancer, Inflammatory Bowel Disease and Functional Bowel Disorders, working within a diverse surgical unit with full focus on multidisciplinary approach to treat and manage our patients,
As a trainer, I am involved in training surgical trainees, mentoring newly appointed consultants, with focus on "Minimal Access Surgery" which would entail nearly 80% of mode of my surgical practice.
As a teacher, I am involved in the delivery of well-established post-graduate courses and design of new ones relative to the interest within the colorectal field. These are carried out within the surgical unit and the Dundee University Skills Centres, aimed for consultant and senior surgical trainees. This is as well as involvement in a number of national and international courses as faculty during the duration of my career as a consultant colorectal surgeon.
In specific to pelvic floor, I oversee a fellowship in pelvic floor surgery and have worked closely with TPFS and colleagues in the pelvic floor society UK, having served two full terms as the Scottish Representative on the TPFS board.
I am an Intercollegiate Examiner and a member of the SSB "Surgical Specialty Board-General Surgery" at the Edinburgh Royal College of the Surgeons.
I am currently in the latter part of second term as the ACPGBI Scottish Chapter Rep which I have thoroughly enjoyed and look forward to collaborating with new colleagues coming on board.
