Biography

Graduation in 2001 from Grodno State Medical University, after 6-year medical degree course with last year of clinical rotation among surgical subspecialties followed by surgical internship in Department of Surgery Grodno City Emergency Hospital (with rotation between surgical specialties as General surgery, Urology, Trauma, Orthopedic ,Gynecology, Neurosurgery and others) was amazing start of my professional career. Hardworking, active position and many sleepless nights helped me to obtain knowledge and develop professional and personal skills essential for surgical specialty. 1 year experience as an oncologist in a local hospital, helped to master further skills in diagnosing and treatment of different oncological pathologies, participating in MDT, providing after-treatment follow-up as well as palliative care for terminally ill patients, meantime part-time shifts as a surgeon on call, provided more practical skills in diagnosis and treatment of surgical emergencies such as acute appendicitis, pancreatitis, peptic ulcers’ complications, strangulated hernias etc. shaped up my abilities to work independently and as part of the team. From 2003 till 2006, I have decided to get career break: while worked in a health care center for elderly people with dementia and challenging behaviors I studied English in Stevenson college, Edinburgh, UK. This experience appeared to be really important in developing skills in attending to angry, demented and psychologically traumatized patients whose anxiousness provoking conflicts; It helps me managing such situations professionally and in a caring way by remaining calm, not taking it personally, using best listening skills, actively sympathizing, apologizing gracefully and finding a solution in my practice now, than it is necessary. I came back to Belarus, and after 4 month refresher training, I worked at the Department of General Surgery with the Center of gastrointestinal hemorrhages of Grodno city hospital N4, where I kept mastering good practical skills in diagnostics and treatment of GIT pathologies, obtained variety of open and laparoscopic operative techniques, including cholecystectomy, appendectomy, hernioplasty/TAPP and many other. I developed good communication skills, caring attitude and empathy towards patients, took part in clinical research for improvement in hemostasis in patients with esophageal varices, due to liver cirrhosis. From 2010 Over the decade, I have had the privilege of working at the Grodno State Medical University, an experience that has provided me with wealth of knowledge and opportunities to take on diverse roles, especially in medical teaching. As a surgeon provided medical consultations, performed diagnostic investigations, such sonography, ano-procto-sygmoscopies, diagnostic colonoscopies, as a part of research performing/participating Dinamic pelvic investigations MRI, radiographic defecografy, anal sphincteromanometry, transanal and peroneal US for POP patients. Treated surgical patients with various surgical and colorectal pathology, developing further surgical skills including minimally invasive and laparoscopic procedures. Also provided consulting medical assistance in the capacity of proctologist at professorial consulting center and a few more private medical centers. Also worth to mention my short experience working as a member of organ transplantation team. In academic capacity, I have assisted and guided medical students of 4, 5 and 6th year, fellows and junior doctors in clinical settings. Notable instance that highlights my English language skills was when I was tasked with managing medical teaching for foreign student in English (Organizing textbooks, learning materials, creating digital materials for e-learning through official university website). Although this was a new responsibility for me, I enthusiastically embraced the challenge. Despite lacking prior experience in medical teaching, I eagerly seized the opportunity. To shape up myself for this new role, I diligently studied and work very hard to meet high quality standards. Developed knowledge and skills helped me to maintain the highest clinical standards of practice and achieve Surgeon of Highest qualification category grade in 2016 and Medical Teaching degree in 2018 to employ those experience to educate junior doctors and fellows, including practical classes, lectures, hospital based (departments, theatres) practice etc. in 2019 I designed educational program, organized and had been delivering 2 weeks teaching courses entitled “Emergency and office-based coloproctology” for general, colorectal and oncology surgeons. Participated in publishing Textbooks, study guides and e-learning aid, including 2 medical books with Vulture "Approved by the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Belarus” medical specialists for faculty of advance training and retraining. Research: Working in Department of purulent surgery and coloproctology at Grodno University Clinic, I led research programs in coloproctology in Pelvic organ prolapse and recurrent pilonidal cyst treatment. I also conducted and participated in other different research programs, as a result more than 50 scientific theses, articles, presentations, books and other materials were published. I am experienced in audit, took part in several international audits. At the same time I worked as part time surgeon (predominantly weekends, holidays and nightshifts) leading word rounds, reviewing all in-patients in various surgical departments. inc. Urology, ICU, diagnosing and treating new patients admitted. As a senior responsible surgeon on call it was my responsibility to triage workload, delegating and sharing responsibilities among members of staff, was involved in most serious cases and emergencies at Department of surgery, Grodno University Clinic. Additionally, as one of the first-line, leading specialist in Coloproctology in Grodno region, I was part of team, provided educational lecture-based teaching sessions for GP and specialty staff in local hospitals of Grodno region. Recently, I have left my senior position at Grodno State Medical University and Grodno University Clinic and concentrate on my professional activities in Private hospitals. Having great previous experience as a part time employee in private clinics helping me to conduct medical consultations, performs investigations such as US, anoproctoscopy, rectosigmoscopy and colonoscopies, surgical manipulations and operations for general surgery and colorectal patients in undoubtedly professional level.
