Biography

Mr Yasser Mohsen MS FRCS(Eng) FRCS(Gen) is a Consultant surgeon at The Hillingdon and Mount Vernon Hospitals NHS Trust. For the last 18 years he has specialised in bowel surgery for cancer and inflammatory bowel disease. He is Lead surgeon at Hillingdon and MVH, surgical tutor, examiner for the Royal College of Surgeons and senior lecturer at Imperial College Medical School. In his role as Lead Clinician for Colorectal surgery he chairs the multi-displinary team for GI cancer. Started basic surgical training in Liverpool, became a fellow of the royal college of surgeons in 1991. Trained at several teaching hospitals in London. St Bartholomew's, The Royal London, Whipps cross and The Royal Free hospital in Hampstead. Awarded a masters degree in surgery, by the University of London, for research work in Cancer. Interests include general surgery, laparoscopic and minimal invasive surgery for gastrointestinal and bowel conditions. Established transanal surgery for tumours (TEMS) at Hillingdon becoming a one of two west London cancer network designated surgeons for early bowel cancer. Main current interest is in surgical innovation and Rapid Enhanced recovery programme in bowel surgery. Last year Hillingdon Colorectal Departement was a designated NHS site of innovation for 'Delivering Enhanced Recovery – helping patients get better sooner' programme
