Biography

Raymond Oliphant completed higher surgical training in the West of Scotland in 2016. He subsequently worked at St Mark's Hospital, London before undertaking a fellowship in laparoscopic colorectal surgery at Concord Hospital, Sydney. He was appointed as a Consultant Colorectal Surgeon at Raigmore Hospital, Inverness in November 2017. He has an interest in robotic / minimially invasive surgery for colorectal cancer, IBD, complex coloproctology, and therapeutic colonoscopy. He is currently an Honorary Senior Lecturer at the University of Aberdeen with an active research interest in surgical outcomes, exercise interventions and surgeon personality. He is the Clinical Lead for Endoscopy and Lead for Endoscopy Training in NHS Highland, Chairs the Complex Polyp MDT and co-chairs the Colorectal Cancer MDT. He was recently appointed as the National Endoscopy Training Programme Lead for the North of Scotland and is a faculty teaching member. He was also appointed as Consultant Colorectal Surgeon at the Golden Jubilee University National Hospital, Clydebank on a part time basis in 2023. He became an elected member of the ACPGBI Colonoscopy sub-committee in 2023.
