PERI-SCOPES MAPPING Study Seeking Consultant Participants
29 June 2026
Bowel Research UK is supporting recruitment to the MAPPING (Mapping Attitudes and Personality in Perioperative Decision-Making) Study, part of the Bowel Research UK-funded PERI-SCOPES programme. ACPGBI members are invited to share this opportunity with eligible colleagues and participate themselves if they meet the inclusion criteria.
The study is exploring how personality traits and attitudes to risk may influence clinical decision-making in emergency surgical care. Researchers are seeking participation from:
- Consultant General Surgeons
- Consultant Anaesthetists
- Consultant Intensivists
Participants will complete a short personality and risk-attitude questionnaire followed by specialty-relevant emergency scenarios. The survey takes approximately 15–20 minutes to complete.
The research team is particularly interested in understanding how clinicians approach complex decisions made under uncertainty and time pressure. As a thank you for taking part, participants will receive an individual personality profile on completion of the survey.
