(Last updated 31 Mar 2026)
This award is designed to identify and highlight colorectal trainees nationally who have been outstanding throughout their training and have shown excellence in the areas of research and academia, leadership or education and training.
This initiative provides a platform to recognise and encourage talent amongst colorectal trainees.
The winner of the Trainee Coloproctologist Award will join the Future Leaders Programme for Surgeons (FLP) — a unique opportunity to accelerate your development beyond clinical excellence.
The FLP is a 12-month, blended learning programme designed for ST8 trainees, SAS doctors, and surgeons in the early years of consultancy who are motivated to lead and influence the future of surgery. It goes beyond traditional training, equipping you with advanced leadership capabilities in areas such as strategic thinking, team leadership, and service development.
Accredited by the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, the programme combines practical learning with high-level mentorship, giving you the tools and confidence to step into leadership roles and drive meaningful change within your organisation.
