About ACPGBI

Update 5th November 2013

All existing members should have received an email with instructions on re-registration. If you have not received this email please contact Sam Burke on 07939062403 or via email s.burke@acpgbi.org.uk. You will have by now heard that the annual subscription method to ACPGBI is going to change. The Council, Executive and Membership have decided that we as an Association should take control of our own database and subscriptions rather than have ASGBI do this for us for a fee. This has been prompted by other Societies taking similar steps and moving away from the financial and administrative umbrella of the ASGBI. Our membership database has become inaccurate and incomplete which results in poor communication and loss of revenue for the Association - it is extraordinary how many memberships lapse without the individual knowing it – or the Executive! There has also been a clear view that we need to provide more for our members and to do this we need more individual detail about members’ interests and specialties. The ACPGBI will continue to have a close working association with the ASGBI who have an ambition to act for surgeons as their "trade union" and in other matters of political interest. The ACPGBI will continue to be the craft association for all healthcare professionals working to advance the knowledge and treatment of colorectal disease in the UK. To assist you in this task we have engaged the services of Samantha Burke (Sam) who has extensive experience of project management and the media. Sam will be regularly contacting you to remind you to complete these tasks asap when the system goes live in November and to help with any problems that may crop up during the transition. It is crucial that we have the majority of members on board by January 6th to collect your subscriptions. Once you are on the system you will then be able to access the new members-only pages where most of your professional activities will lie rather than the public page. We anticipate some glitches so your feedback will be valuable and welcome. Anne O'Mara will continue to run the office for all other enquiries as we work towards next years' Tripartite Meeting but Sam will be your port of call (s.burke@acpgbi.org.uk or 07939062403) for this exercise. There will be a slight increase in subscriptions for 2014. However if you are paying by Direct Debit there will be a 3% reduction in the fee. With all best wishes
