‘Building on a strong base’

The Council of ACPGBI are seeking expressions of interest for membership of the Early Years Consultant Network (EYCN) management committee. EYCN was set up by a task force of colorectal surgeons in late 2019 to provide support for Consultants in their first five years of practice. Such support would take the form of mentoring, opportunities within the profession and career progression, as well as advice on other aspects of Consultant practice including job-planning, handling complaints, inquests, litigation etc...A recent survey has highlighted the need for such activity. The time has come to form a specific management committee to take EYCN activity forward. Eight posts are available to ST8, Fellows and Ordinary members with less than 5 years of Consultant practice. In the event of more than 8 applications, then Council will elect members using Single Transferable Voting (STV) methodology. The elected committee will vote from within for the various roles envisaged (Chair, Secretary etc…). Each term of membership will be for a maximum of 3 years, apart from individuals seeking to Chair the organisation in their 4th year, and those who reach 5 years of Consultant practice who will automatically demit office. It is anticipated that at least 2 face-face meetings will be required annually as well as teleconferences. Applications in the form a 1 page CV and covering letter to the Honorary Secretary by 5pm on Friday 24th April 2020 Email the Association Secretariat
