In October 2017, the RCS Library relaunched the Colorectal Surgery Update. This replaces the Current Awareness Bulletin that ran from 2012-2016.

The Update is a concise email summary of the latest clinical evidence, providing surgeons with an easy way to keep up-to-date with professional reading in their specialty and contribute to their CPD activities. Updates focus on current best evidence, supporting surgeons to improve patient care, and can also be used to highlight areas for research and teaching, and to help select reading for journal clubs. Updates will now be sent to Fellows and Members every two months. The Colorectal Surgery Update covers: patient safety, general interest items on education, training and policy, colorectal cancer, Inflammatory Bowel Disease, colonoscopy, proctology and pelvic floor, intestinal failure, hernia & abdominal wall reconstruction.
