BASO ~ The Association for Cancer Surgery (BASO~ACS) Project Grant will assist surgeons to undertake research projects related to surgical or surgically linked cancer care.

Research studies funded through their Project Grant award scheme are eligible for consideration for NIHR Clinical Research Network Support. Projects should further the aims of the BASO~ACS  and should be of clear benefit to patient care in the UK.

Nature of grant

Applications are sought for discrete projects such as projects seeking funding for the initial development of clinical trials, studies aimed at initial data collection to inform the design of a future trial or systematic reviews. Subject to satisfactory applications, one to two awards up to the total value of £3,000 will be made. Normally the award will be for one academic year.

Eligibility

Applications are judged on the basis of scientific excellence, innovation and relevance to cancer research and potential impact on policy and practice. Applicants should be:
  1. Full, trainees or affiliate members of BASO~ACS.
  2. Clinicians in Training or substantive Consultant posts, workers in UK Universities, Medical Schools, Hospitals or Research Institutions. Cancer Nurse Specialists working in UK Hospitals will also be eligible.
