The ACPGBI would expect the following of any surgeon managing elective cases of colorectal cancer.
'Acute severe colitis' (formerly known as fulminant colitis) is a potentially life-threatening condition that constitutes a medical and surgical emergency. The majority of cases are due to ulcerative colitis although other causes such as Crohn's colitis and pseudomembranous colitis can result in a similar clinical picture.
Members are encouraged to familiarise themselves with job planning and contract details and/or seek advice from a specialist organisation/trade union (eg BMA, HCSA).
This guidance provides information on sexual and reproductive health for individuals with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD).
