Mr Shahab Siddiqi qualified from St. George’s Hospital Medical School, London in 1993. He trained in general and colorectal surgery in the North Thames Deanery. He received further specialist training in Hull as a pelvic floor fellow and New Zealand as a laparoscopic fellow where he developed his interest in the pelvic floor and minimal access surgery.
He obtained a MD degree by researching into colorectal cancer molecular biology at The Royal London Hospital.
He was appointed to the consultant staff of the Broomfield Hospital, Essex in 2011. He is actively involved in teaching, training and service improvement at Broomfield. He has a track record of service development and is the colorectal lead for the pelvic floor unit and robotic surgery.
He has special interest in minimal access surgery, the pelvic floor, pelvic pain and functional bowel disorders. Mr Siddiqi has performed over 130 robotic procedures for rectal cancer and pelvic floor disorders.
He has published and presented widely in international and national meetings and journals on various aspects of general and colorectal disease.
