Mr Roel Hompes graduated as MD at the Catholic University of Leuven, Belgium in 2002 (Cum Laude). He became a surgeon in 2008, and has undergone extensive training in the field of Coloproctology and Abdominal Wall surgery at the University Clinic Leuven under the supervision of Professor Penninckx, Professor D’Hoore and Professor Miserez. He further received a postgraduate training in coloproctology and Pelvic Floor Surgery in two renowned UK expert centres (Oxford and Basingstoke). Since 2013, Roel Hompes is a staff member of the Department of Colorectal Surgery at the Oxford University Hospitals, NHS Trust.
He is especially skilled in minimal invasive surgery, including laparoscopic (“key-hole”) and transanal surgery (TEM/TAMIS). He has published several peer-reviewed scientific papers and book chapters, with a main focus on pelvic floor pathology and minimal invasive techniques.
