I completed Higher Surgical Training in NW England before undertaking fellowships in Aberdeen (laparoscopic) and Leeds (recurrent rectal cancer). I was appointed to the RVI, Newcastle in 2012 and have set up a thriving regional service for advanced and recurrent pelvic malignancy and now lead the salvage surgery service for anal cancer.
I am a laparoscopic fellowship trainer and am one half of a large abdominal wall reconstruction practice.
Passionate about high quality fresh frozen cadaver training I lead the regional surgical skills programme for surgical trainees at the Newcastle Surgical Training Centre and teach on a wide variety of national and european courses including laparoscopic TME, TAPP, THD, AWR and trauma.
I was PI for the recently completed MASERATI and ENHANCE trials and sit on the trial management group for the exciting NIHR-RfPB LACES trial which begins recruiting in 2016.
