Mr Chetan Bhan has been a consultant Colorectal Surgeon since 2012 and currently holds a post at the Whittington Hospital where he is Colorectal Cancer Lead
Mr Bhan is a fully trained general surgeon and advanced colorectal surgeon, offering expertise in minimally invasive surgery, also known as virtually scarless surgery, Single incision laparoscopic surgery (SILS) and has specialist training in complex benign and pelvic floor surgery for which he also has a research interest.
Mr Bhan is also interested in training in General Surgery and has been the Training Programme Director for surgical training in north, central and east London since Novemeber 2014.
Mr Bhan's medical training commenced with undergraduate studies at United Medical and Dental Schools of Guy’s and St Thomas’, London, qualifying in 1998 followed by
Surgical training in London and the South East. Mr Bhan undertook time out of training which comprised of 2 years of research into lower gastrointestinal functional disorders, particularly pelvic floor disorders at The Royal London Hospital. His advanced colorectal training including complex colorectal surgery, including perineal reconstruction, colorectal cancer, complex inflammatory bowel disease and intestinal failure was also undertaken at The Royal London Hospital. Mr Bhan completed his training by undertaking a fellowship in advanced laparoscopic techniques in colorectal surgery particularly Single Incision laparoscopic Surgery (SILS) in Sydney, Australia. For this his was awarded the prestigious Fellowship from the Worshipful Company of Cutlers.
