Prof Angus Watson

Professor Angus J M Watson is a consultant general and colorectal surgeon at Raigmore hospital, Inverness. He is an honorary Professor of Surgery at University of Aberdeen and a Clinical Advisor to the Scottish Government. He trained in Manchester, Scotland and New Zealand before being appointed a Consultant Colorectal Surgeon at Manchester Royal Infirmary in 2005. Professor Watson moved to Inverness in 2009. His main clinical interests are cancer, and inflammatory bowel disease. His research interests are diverse. He was Chief investigator for the HTA sponsored eTHoS trial a UK wide multi-centre surgical study. He is co-applicant and principal investigator for a large range of national and international studies. He currently leads the ScotCap programme, a real world clinical evaluation of Colon Capsule Endoscopy within the NHS. He has created digital health portals for IBD and Colorectal Cancer patients and is an elected member of Council for The Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. He chairs the Global Surgery Foundation at RCSEd
