Mr Mohamed Amin Tabaqchali

Qualified from Cairo University Medical School 1981. completed internship programme at the Cairo University Hospital in February 1983. Worked in the NHS since April 1984 in different training grades in surgical specialities. Joint Northern Deanery Higher Surgical Training Programme from 1993- 1999. The last 2 years of the programme spend in Specialist training units in Coloproctology. Appointed as consultant colorectal surgeon to North Tees and Hartlepool Trust in 1999. Established colorectal Cancer MDT, anorectal physiology Laboratory, and bowel cancer pathways. Held several leadership roles including Trust Lead clinician for Cancer since 2001 and Cancer Network Lead Clinician 2004-2010. Major area of interest is in rectal cancer, laparoscopic colorectal surgery, IBD surgery including iloe-anal pouch reconstruction, complex fistula in ano, Anorectal physiology including pelvic floor work and functional bowel disorders. Has major interest in therapeutic and diagnostic GI endoscopy
