I was appointed as a consultant colorectal surgeon to the Royal Gwent Hospital in April 2008. I qualified from the University of Wales College of Medicine, Cardiff in 1994 and undertook most of my surgical training in Wales. Two years were spent at the Department of Molecular Biology at Swansea University where full time research into colorectal carcinogenesis was rewarded by a MCh degree. At the end of higher surgical training I was fortunate to obtain an Ethicon/ACPGBI laparoscopic colorectal fellowship with Mr Peter Sagar at Leeds General Infirmary. I undertake and enjoy all aspects of colorectal surgery in a busy DGH with emphasis on laparoscopic management of IBD and colorectal malignancy.
