DAMASCUS study in the UK

Posted 10 June 2019 in

The ACPGBI Research and Audit committee along with the Dukes’ Club Research Collaborative is coordinating the DAMASCUS study in the UK, and we are delighted to invite you to participate.

DAMASCUS (Diverticular Abscess Management: A Snapshot Collaborative aUdit Study) is an international, prospective study aiming to investigate the variations in the management of patients with diverticular abscess and whether these variations are associated with short term clinical outcomes at 30 days or with readmission or re-intervention rates over the subsequent 6 months.

The study will start in October 2019 and will run for 6 months.

DAMASCUS will principally be a trainee-led study, but local consultant support is absolutely vital to the success of this study. Participating sites will need 1-2 trainees to be involved in local registration, data collection and liaising with DCRC committee, and a local consultant as Principal Investigator. Full collaborative authorship will be used in any publications arising from the study. We would also encourage the involvement of medical students where possible.
