Bowel & Cancer Research is seeking high quality applications for consideration at its funding round in March 2020.
Up to £50,000 per study is available for the following:
Our area of interest is lower GI/ bowel research in malignant and non-malignant, diagnostic or treatment studies or device/intervention development for which future translation to tangible patient benefit can be anticipated. Areas of interest include, but are not limited to:
- Colorectal cancer
- Inflammatory Bowel Disease (colitis and Crohn’s disease)
- Stoma prevention/improvement in quality of life
- Functional problems (dysmotility, constipation, incontinence)
In addition to which specific applications are also sought for the area listed below:
Research projects to improve the diagnosis and/or care of patients with Chronic Intestinal Pseudo Obstruction, dysmotility or gastroparesis via our partners at the Pseudo Obstruction Research Trust (PORT).
Awards of up to £50,000 are available for time limited (indicatively 12 -18 months) proof-of-principle studies based on sound hypotheses with real future patient benefit. Successful applicants will be expected to make a strong case for how the funding sought will be used to lever further funding to continue resulting work.

The deadline for all preliminary applications is 5pm Wednesday 30th October.
Applicants will be notified in early December if a full application is invited and final decisions will be made in March 2020.
