Bowel and Cancer Research – Call for Proposals

Bowel & Cancer Research is seeking proposals of up to £75,000 over 3 years to support PhD students in areas relating to gastrointestinal diseases, including, but not limited to, bowel cancer, Inflammatory Bowel Disease and IBS. Awards will be made in November 2019.

Bowel & Cancer Research invites applications for its PhD studentship call. They are seeking high quality applications across all aspects of bowel disease, from bowel cancer to functional conditions.

This year a number of open and themed PhD awards will be made as follows:

The general Bowel & Cancer Research open theme in malignant and benign colorectal disease.

The Davidson Family Trust PhD into stress and Inflammatory Bowel Disease.

The Masonic Charitable Foundation
PhD for Research into Bowel Disease (with a preference for colorectal cancer).

The Bowel & Cancer Research and Guts UK
PhD for Research into Diverticular Disease and Diverticulitis

Across all themes support will be given to:

  • New ideas in diagnostics, therapeutics or devices
  • Experimental medicine
  • Pilot studies; outcomes research

In general applications are not prioritised for work using experimental animals.
