The course sessions focus on the evaluation and treatment of benign anorectal diseases, pilonidal disease and stoma surgery, as well as operative procedures on the abdominal colon including right and left colectomy, and Hartmann’s procedures. Emphasis will be placed on small group teaching and will be predominantly skills based with utilisation of both animal models and cadaveric dissection. This two-day course is aimed at trainees in general surgery who are in their intermediate years (ST3-5) and seeks to deliver the core skills in colorectal surgery as defined for that stage by the Intercollegiate Surgical Curriculum Programme (ISCP).
