Consultant surgeon Manchester Royal Infirmary, Clinical Professor of colorectal surgery Manchester Academic Health Science Centre and Clinical Lead National Bowel Cancer Audit

Undergraduate in Bristol then postgraduate training in Manchester and Harvard and Brigham and Women’s Hospital. Consultant colorectal surgeon at Manchester Royal Infirmary since 1995. Main areas of clinical activity are early rectal cancer and familial colorectal cancer. Currently member of the NCRI colorectal group, co-director North West Surgical Trials Unit, lead for surgery Gtr Mancheser CRN, lead clinician for the national bowel cancer audit.

Research interests are biomarkers in familial colorectal cancer and early cancer and in clinical trials as CI for the CReST, CReST 2 and PPAC trials and co-investigator in the TREC and STAR-TREC trials.
