The M54 and M27 courses are run by the Association of Coloproctology in Wolverhampton (M54) and Portsmouth (M27) in November each year. Both courses have been established for over 10 years and in that time, over 700 trainees have attended the courses, which rum in tandem and have the same content, delivered by different teachers. The courses cover all of colorectal surgery and are designed to give the junior trainee a good grounding in knowledge of colorectal surgery. The course style is a mixture of didactic and interactive sessions, all with an informal atmosphere to encourage participation by the trainees.
